The Area
The call of the wild. Big Creek lies on the lip of a vast 2.4 million acres of untamed land known as the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness. The Salmon River Mountains—with Goat Mountain as a striking focal point—pierce the sky at nine and ten thousand feet high. Remote lakes dot the backcountry. Tree-lined ridges carved through with winding creeks and canyons reveal a rugged beauty. Outnumbering any human population, you may spot moose, elk, mountain lions, wolves, black bear, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, chukar, grouse, bald eagles, Chinook salmon, Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout, and Brooke Trout. By and large, it’s pretty epic out here.
